Those of you who’ve been visiting me here for a little while might have guessed I really dig the cello. It’s a sound that crawls right into your bones and echoes through your blood.
As a beginning cellist and music lover, I find inspiration in a variety of musical places. Today, I offer you one of my favorites, Brooklyn Duo playing a cello and piano cover of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters:
You ever have those moments where you wonder what the heck you’re doing, if your efforts are worth the time, or you’re just going to end up looking stupid?
It could be you’re learning something new, gearing up to talk to someone new, gathering the courage to speak out for what you believe in, or prepping to do something you don’t usually do. And, boom, you’re seized with doubts. Assuming those doubts are just good old-fashioned irrational fear and not some inkling of the potential for serious and unreasonable harm in your actions, I say check out the chicken below:
Now, folks keep calling this chicken (let’s call her Francine…because I like the name Francine) stupid. But who, with very little effort, walks away with not one but two portable snacks? The other chickens just keep pecking aimlessly, but Francine gets her food to go so she can go on being awesome.
Stupid? I think not. 😉
Note: No ROW80 check in today. I’ll update on Sunday. I hope all your ROW80 goals are moving right along!
How do you talk yourself out of the fear of feeling stupid?
You ever have those days where there doesn’t seem to be enough coffee in the world to keep you on track?
Yeah, that’s pretty much been my week.
Not that it’s been all bad. We’re getting back on track after our unfortunate car break in incident. I haven’t let too many things slip. But my motivation is severely dragging. Hopefully, I can pep up this week, but I’m keeping my plans light just in case. Continue reading “A Steaming Cup of ROW”→
We have a running joke in our family. Whenever we think we misheard someone, we repeat back to that person what it sounded like s/he said. Sometimes, we’re reasonably close. Other times, we’re wildly, hilariously off.
We’re not alone. Lots of folks do this all this time, often without even knowing how off the mark they are.
You see this especially with song lyrics:
*May be a wee bit NSFW, due to language (but only two or three instances…and said in such a great accent…so there’s that).
In terms of pets, I’ve never been a big fish person. They’re pretty (some of them) and soothing to watch, but I’ve never found them to be very interactive. I prefer something furry I can snuggle or play fetch with. But the fish in the video below has me rethinking things a little:
A big thank you to my daughter, who introduced me to this video. She’s like a walking search engine for good articles and videos.
Have you ever gotten stuck on something that you feel should come naturally but it’s not coming naturally and you can’t figure out why so you sit around and try to work it out but then you get stuck in the thinking about the thing and that’s worse than getting stuck on the thing in the first place…?
*pauses for breath*
If you overthink things (or just think you do) this video is for you:
Another week, another Sunday ROW80* check in. Welcome back.
This week was a mixed bag for progress. I did well on my cello, health and family goals, but got very little done on my rewrites. Oh well, as a famous southern belle once said, tomorrow is another day.
